He is a professor at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University in the United States and has served as director of its Center for Middle Eastern Studies.
He holds a PhD in planning and international development from Cornell University and is recognized as a Distinguished Service Professor at Rutgers.
