The Talysh diaspora in Russia has created the
Federal Talysh National Cultural Autonomy.
Two organisations are part of the autonomous body, which will be represented in the National Council alongside the Russian President with other autonomous bodies.
This means that Russia officially recognizes the Talysh as a people separate from the Azerbaijanis. This status will also enhance the political and cultural power of the Talysh in the post-Sovet space.
